    I am very displeased with KCPL electric service. 5 outages to my home, (and other homes in the area), this last June and so far in July. None of these outages were storm related. I have been in large facility operations management for over 30 years and spent the last 17 years managing a small city/township; including the electric power distribution of overhead and in-ground service. We purchased power at 7,200V and distributed that at 2,400V to office buildings, schools, retail shops and houses where it was then reduced to 480/277, 240 volts. We owned, operated, and maintained our own line, power poles, transformers and underground cable. I had 2 employed linemen and several electricians, among other trades. We ran our own lines, made repairs and maintenance with our on-site staff, contracting to Capitol Electric only twice in 17 years due to in-climate cold weather. THE POINT I am making IS that I have some knowledge on electrical power and distribution. I know when I am NOT being told truthful information from a lineman and I also know by observing when a crew doesn’t know the equipment and is lost on what to do to repair an outage; especially when I tell them where the tombstone box is for the underground service. On four occasions an outage that should have been resolved in 40 minutes, (after arrival) took 4 hours or more. One took 2 days. I believe KCP&L should have 2 or more linemen who know how underground distribution and service is typically installed. I have lived in my Lee’s Summit home for 35 years, and prior to KCP&L’s purchase of the electrical utilities in lee’s Summit (30 years I believe) I have experienced no more than 4 outages (in 30 years) and that includes severe storm outages. I feel that your personnel for this area – southeast Lee’s Summit, near Toddgeorge Pkwy & 50 Hwy – are not properly trained and familiar with the electrical service for this area.
    I am tomorrow, going to write in more detail to your VP in charge of service & personnel for this area. If I can’t clearly identify the proper person I will attempt my best judgement & include Mr. Terry Bassham. I will also write the Missouri Public Service Commission and copy my State congress woman and man. I feel the level of service being provided is substandard and the crew members do not represent KCP&L well in their short clipped conversation. I actually felt that they sounded disgusted with the outage and directed their attitude toward me. I also believe that my expectations are reasonable as a customer.
